Civil War in Liberia
10 Oct 1990, Monrovia, Liberia --- Three young member of the Independent National Patriotic Front of Liberia (INPFL) dress themselves in wigs and face paint, an act often done by rebel forces for spiritualistic reasons or scare tactics. Responding to years of government corruption and oppression, in 1989 the National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL) launched a revolt against President Samuel Doe, seizing control of much of Liberia and plunging the country into massive civil war. The INPFL, a splinter group of the NPFL, is responsible for execution of President Doe. --- Image by © Patrick Robert/Sygma/Corbis
